How to Apply Keramos Ceramic Coating Yourself

Today we'll walk you through applying our Keramos ceramic coating yourself. The main rule with ceramic coating is a perfectly prepped surface, so most of the work is prep.

Washing

Work on cool paint. First phase — touchless wash Citrus Buddy (1:20), then Gentle Soap Amber (1:10) through a foam cannon; let it dwell and rinse from the bottom up. Contact wash with acidic Acid Shock (1:10) plus 30 ml (1 fl oz) of Slimy Foam in the bucket; wash the rockers with a separate sponge and hit tight spots with Juicy Citrus (1:10) and a detailing brush. Partially dry with a microfiber towel.

Bug, tar and iron removal

Apply bug & tar remover Tar Spirit to the paint, give it a few minutes and rinse it off with pressure (water alone won't take it off). Repeat the pre-wash and the contact wash. Then the iron remover Double Iron: apply it, wait for the reaction and rinse thoroughly.

Claying and surface prep

Lubricant Jelly Slider plus clay or a clay mitt mechanically pull off embedded contaminants that chemicals can't touch. Check the smoothness by hand. Rinse one last time, dry with a microfiber towel (air-dry with a blower if you can) and prep the surface with Easy Prep.

Paint correction

The paint has to be machine polished — especially on dark cars, where scratches show more. Use a DA polisher, a one-step compound and two pads (medium and finishing), 1–2 passes per panel depending on the condition of the clear coat. Prep the surface with Easy Prep before and after polishing — the clear coat should be as clean and smooth as possible.

Safety

Take safety seriously: at minimum, nitrile gloves and respiratory protection if you're applying the coating in a poorly ventilated space.

Applying Keramos

Put a small amount on the applicator pad and spread it over each panel in crosshatch motions. After 1–2 minutes grab two fresh microfiber towels: wipe off the excess with one, buff with the other. Use a light to check the surface for streaks and missed spots.

What Keramos gives you

Slickness, strong water beading, a self-cleaning effect, faster drying (the towel glides over the surface) and chemical protection — you can remove dirt safely. For regular washes use only quality products; Foam Heroes products with Keramos have worked great.
